COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course aims to introduce insulin pump therapy to health care providers managing patient with diabetes starting from candidate selection criteria through pump reports to optimize glycemic control in patients with type I diabetes. Additionally, unshed crucial updates pertaining to non-insulin individualized therapy approach in patients with type II diabetes.
COURSE OUTCOMES:
1. Provide a general overview of the management of diabetes mellitus.
2. Identify patient-specific factors for an individualized insulin and non-insulin treatment approach.
3. Highlight the most appropriate insulin formulations for use with insulin pumps.
4. Identify the most suitable candidates for insulin pump therapy.
5. Interpret pumps report and identify areas of improvement for optimal glycemic control.
6. Understand the clinical updates in diabetes management based on the latest clinical trials.
7. Apply the most recent recommendations on the use of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors and/or glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists to optimize diabetes management.
